My goal was to express a simplified masculine form but still keep my signature style.
Usually my sculptures are more feminine in appearance due to the longer, flowing hair, but for this sculpture,
I tried to make a more masculine style but still keep my usual design elements.
One of my normal design elements is to show the koru shape in the place of the ears but still appearing to be very natural.
I find that the shape of the Maori Koru symbol has a similar design as the natural swirls found in the human ear.
Also, it connects the interpretation of the image of a baby fern frond shape as a symbolic design representing the beginning of life.
Understanding the natural order of the universe is important to successfully living our lives.
That is, life seems to be very cyclical in nature; often moving in ebbs and flows.
In searching for balance, we often need to understand how the movements of nature can impact our lives and our tranquility.
The goal is to be interconnected with nature for the benefit of ourselves as well as the natural world.
