5_Aotearoa
3m / 2.2tonnes. / 2008

Aotearoa means New Zealand in the Maori language, which means the land of the long white cloud.
It was exhibited at the New Zealand cultural festival in 2009 as a symbolic figure of New Zealand.
It captured humanism balanced with the flow of Nature.
The earlier design of this sculpture in 1999 was commissioned as ¡°Daphne Award¡± as honor of successful business woman
in New Zealand. This award has been passing along to the present from winner to winner since then.
The sculpture is called ¡° Aotearoa,¡± which is the Maori name for New Zealand and literally means ¡°The Land of the long white cloud¡±
This is an original design and the intellectual property rights have been registered in Korea as well as overseas.
The sculpture has a mass of over 2.1tonnes and is 3meters long.
The alternate design of this sculpture was commissioned to become the Daphne Award for the BPW New Zealand
(Business & Professionals Women¡¯s Clubs Incorporated.)
in 1999. The BPW found my sculpture to be very symbolic of values with which they strongly identified.
The miniature of Aotearoa still has been passed from one successful business woman to
another each year as a trophy and as a symbol of honor.
